Take the High Road (Scottish TV soap, 1980-95)
Alan Sinclair notes: "The bus featured on 'Take the High Road' in the early 1970s was not a Bedford OB but a later model. It was one of the short-wheelbase types, similar to a VAS but not that model. (although I could be wrong.) It had Duple coachwork with,I think,a rear mail compartment. The bus concerned has now been preserved by Stagecoach in MacBraynes livery,as it originally belonged to that company. I think the registration is YYS 174" - identified by Dave Farrier as a 1960 Bedford C5Z1/Duple C21F originally MacBrayne 54. Malcolm Rennie confirms: "The Bedford YYS174 was used when it was wearing black and white Western SMT coach livery. It used to run the Glendarroch – Auchtarne bus service which was withdrawn in 1982 when the driver Maggie Ferguson married Sorry Watson and emigrated. The service was replaced by a Postbus which was a Sherpa minibus driven by Fergus Jamieson. Call me sad but I never missed an episode!"
